Being online on WhatsApp doesn’t mean you can respond to messages right away. Fortunately, there’s a way to reply to your contacts or even read what’s been sent to you without having to go online to the app.
The measures are a good way to maintain privacy and also prevent that most annoying contact from making charges like: “I saw you were online. Why didn’t you answer me?”.
What we show below are tricks, since officially the app, whenever opened, shows that the person is online. So, there are more tips for those who want to be less bothered.
See below how to do it:
Link to notifications
When notifications are enabled, on both Android and iOS, you can read and respond to them without making you appear online to your contact.
To do this, just drag or hold the notification down, read and respond in the interface itself.
It is worth mentioning that WhatsApp notifications must be turned on.
How to enable notifications on Android
– Go to the three dots menu (which is in the upper right corner) and choose Settings;
– Then go to Notifications;
– Enable Use high priority notifications.
How to enable notifications on iOS
– Go to Settings, then Notifications and choose WhatsApp;
– Finally, select the Allow Notifications option.
Airplane mode
In case you don’t want to appear online and read some messages, just turn on the phone’s airplane mode – which basically turns off the connection to the mobile cellular network and wifi.
To turn airplane mode on or off on iOS or Android, there’s not much of a secret.
On Apple’s mobile system, just swipe the top right corner from top to bottom and tap the plane icon. On Google’s mobile system, just swipe down from the part of the screen and select the plane icon.
