According to the agency, the measure tries to combat the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, which, with the closing of Social Security agencies, took the waiting time for scheduling medical expertise from 17 days in January 2020 to 66 days currently. . There is a stock of 762,000 pending appointments in the medical examination queue.
The main change provided for in the MP is the provision that the issuance of a federal medical expert opinion regarding work incapacity may be waived, with the benefit being granted on the basis of medical certificates and reports.
On the other hand, insured persons who are receiving accident assistance granted judicially or administratively will be obliged, under penalty of suspension of the benefit, to undergo a medical examination, professional rehabilitation process or treatment. “The amount projected for expenses with the Programs, estimated at R$ 40.3 million, is already foreseen in the Budget Law”, informed the secretary.
