Former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who leads the current presidential race, said on Tuesday that he has no problems with the president of the Central Bank.
Roberto Campos Neto was chosen by President Jair Bolsonaro to preside over BC 2019 and should keep his position even if Lula is elected due to the bank’s independence approved by Congress.
In an interview with left-wing YouTubers and bloggers, Lula said that the main point he would like to discuss with Campos Neto is that it is not necessary to meet inflation targets only through higher interest rates.
The PT member reinforced that during his eight years at the helm of the federal government, he gave full freedom to the then president of the BC, Henrique Meirelles.
