For families with active lifestyles who need a compact yet spacious vehicle with a premium look, Mercedes-Benz proposes the new T-Class, a mini MPV, which will initially be available in a short version with five seats.
With the disappearance of MPVs and responding to some demand from private customers that cannot be satisfied by compact or medium SUVs in terms of space and versatility, some manufacturers are developing vehicles called mini-MPVs based on commercial vehicle platforms.
The most recent case is Mercedes-Benz with the new T-Class. The German brand justifies this option due to the significant growth of the mini-MPV segment in recent years, especially for families and leisure enthusiasts who need a lot of space for their lives. everyday life, as well as for leisure trips and sporting activities, but that do not dispense with comfort and style.
Mercedes-Benz Classe T
With two sliding side doors to facilitate entry and exit of the vehicle, five real seats, ample interior space and flexible luggage compartment options, the Mercedes-Benz T-Class was designed to be one of the references in the exclusive (and reduced) segment of the premium mini MPV.

The design of the Mercedes-Benz T-Class remains faithful to the distinctive features of the German brand, distinguishing itself through balanced proportions, smooth surfaces and rounded angles. Muscular shoulders and pronounced wheel arches underline the vehicle’s energy and emotional appeal. The chrome radiator grille, body-coloured paintwork of the rear-view mirror caps, door handles and bumpers reinforce the premium look.
At launch, the Mercedes-Benz T-Class will be offered in a short five-seat version with an exterior length of 4.5 meters, a width of 1.86 meters and a height of 1.81 meters. A seven-seat long version will come later.
Luggage capacity ranges from 520 liters to 2390 liters in the five-seater version
Space is one of the arguments of the T-Class, whose luggage compartment offers a capacity of 520 liters with the rear seats in the normal position, which can be expanded to 2390 liters by folding them down.
The premium appearance of the exterior extends to the cabin, which offers sophisticated finishes. The equipment is also complete in all versions, highlighting the infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen and smartphone integration, multifunction steering wheel with “Touch Control” tactile buttons, keyless start, air conditioning, instrument panel with screen. 5.5”, height-adjustable rider seat, closed glove box.
The materials used also underline the premium character such as the central armrest in Artico leather upholstery, while the T-Class door upholstery is made in Neotex. All models have a shiny trim on the instrument panel.
Diesel and gasoline engines
The Mercedes-Benz T-Class will be marketed in the “Style” and “Progressive” trim levels. Among the distinctive features, the highlights are the leather upholstery on the seats and gloss black elements on the doors and center console. As an option, these trims are available in lemon yellow on the seats and center console. The backs of the front seats have folding tables, which are prepared to accommodate smartphones or children’s toys.
In terms of mechanics, the initial offer of the T-Class comprises two four-cylinder engines, one diesel and the other gasoline, each offered in two power levels: 95 hp and 116 hp in the first case and 102 hp and 131 hp in the second. .

All engines have an Eco start/stop function and all are available with a six-speed manual gearbox. The two diesel engines and the more powerful petrol engine can also be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
The Mercedes-Benz T-Class goes on sale in June, but prices for Portugal have not yet been released.
