TVR is accelerating its electrification process, having confirmed an electric version of the Griffith supercar for 2024. At the same time it announces its sponsorship of Formula E.
Announced in 2017 but with deliveries successively delayed until late 2023 due to various delays, the reborn TVR Griffith is expected to receive an electric version in 2024. The British brand also revealed that it will sponsor the Formula E championship, underlining its electrified future.
The Griffith EV will be marketed alongside the internal combustion engine version, which features a Ford V8 block with more than 500 hp. The British manufacturer did not disclose the specifications of the electric drive line, but it should be more powerful and faster than its gasoline counterpart, despite the additional weight of the batteries.
The model designed by Gordon Murray will have some changes in terms of chassis tuning to support the new type of engine and a different weight distribution.
On the other hand, changes in style should be minimal, with the exception of the smaller air intakes and, of course, the absence of exhaust outlets on the side.
More electrics in the gutter
The Griffith will be the first, but not the only, electric model from TVR, as its president, Les Edgar, has already indicated, who wants to launch more electric vehicles.
In November last year, TVR announced a partnership with lithium exploration company Ensorcia Metals Corporation, which is based in South America. The agreement will allow the supply of batteries for TVR’s electric futures.

As for involvement in Formula E, TVR will sponsor the Monaco e-Prix (April 30) and the London e-Prix (July 30 and 31). The partnership with Formula E marks a turning point in TVR’s strategy as it accelerates its plans to become a sustainable, emission-neutral business.
