Entities representing different categories within the Federal Police are holding mobilizations across the country this Thursday, 28, to pressure President Jair Bolsonaro on the promise of restructuring the Union’s police careers. as showed the Estadãothe members of the corporation are reacting to the 5% increase agreed between the Chief Executive and the Minister of Economy Paulo Guedes as a readjustment for the entire civil service.
Delegate Tania Prado, president of the National Federation of Federal Police Delegates – one of the entities participating in this Thursday’s mobilizations – says that the Bolsonaro government, ‘by devaluing the institution and the federal police’, becomes the ‘main weakening agent’ of the corporation.
The head of Fenadepol argues that the PF ‘cannot be an electoral marketing tool’ and highlights: “The Federal Police is the main thermometer in the fight against corruption and crime in Brazil. And when all parameters indicate that this fight runs serious risks , society has to make an urgent course correction”.
The mobilization of members of the Federal Police takes place in units of the corporation in several states, with banners and demonstrations calling for the ‘appreciation of the federal security forces’.
The representative entities of the PF had already expressed their discontent with the linear adjustment devised by the Bolsonaro government in a meeting with Minister of Justice Anderson Torres. To the institutions, Torres stated that the ‘hammer is not beaten’ regarding the increase to all civil servants.
The different associations have already approved other measures in reaction to what they call the government’s ‘clear omission’ regarding the restructuring of the corporation’s careers. As shown by Estadão, the Association of Federal Police Delegates approved a stoppage of activities, which will be ratified at an extraordinary general meeting scheduled for May 2.
