McDonald’s published a video on Instagram where it says that it “vacillated” in choosing the name of the new sandwich of the chain, the McPicanha – see the post below.
The sandwiches were removed from the menu after the controversy surrounding the product, which, despite its name, does not contain picanha.
In the publication, the company states that it “vacillated the name of our new sandwich” and that, therefore, “decided to remove it from the menu”. The video also informs that “soon” the sandwich will be back, under another name.

Sought, McDonald’s has not yet informed how the choice of this new name was made, since the McPicanha line was already part of the chain’s sandwiches.
The “new McPicanha” were presented to the public in April this year, in an advertising campaign within the Big Brother Brasil 22. On the network’s website, the sandwiches are still on the official menu. All videos related to the new line were removed from the air yesterday (28), in the morning.
Procon, Conar and government entered the case
Yesterday, after the disclosure of the case, Procon-SP notified the fast-food chain and requested clarification on the composition of the sandwiches, as well as the “copy of advertising materials and media for the 2022 line”. The company must submit the documents to the entity by May 2.
The Ministry of Justice and Public Security informed that it also notified the network to explain, within ten days, the possible practice of misleading advertising.
Conar (National Council for Advertising Self-Regulation), in turn, decided to open an ethical lawsuit against McDonald’s to verify the “truthfulness of the advertising message” in the case of the launch of the sandwiches.
