The 2021 Formula 1 season will go down in the history of the discipline for the incredible fight between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, in addition to the two teams. The champion was only found on the last lap of the last race of the year. It was tremendously dramatic.
2022 got off to a great start and we once again have two drivers and two teams competing for race wins, right at the start of a new chassis generation. For Ross Brawn, director of Formula 1, to give even more emotion for the second consecutive season, there is only one thing missing: a third team to fight for the first places.
“I have to be honest, I was hoping that Mercedes would have been more competitive by now,” said Brawn at Imola. “They’ve had a rough start and are working incredibly, and I thought [que em Imola] We could see some progress, but they still seem to be struggling with the car, but otherwise, a third team in contention would be fantastic.”
This year Max Verstappen does not have Lewis Hamilton as his main opponent, but Charles Leclerc. The on-track relationship between the two drivers is very different from what happened in 2021 with the Briton. Brawn hopes the good relationship will continue as the season progresses.
“There’s a different dynamic between Charles and Max,” Brawn said. “We are seeing it on the track. It will be interesting to see how this evolves as we approach the end of the season.”
