Paris, May 3, 2022 (AFP) – The Stellantis car group announced on Tuesday (5) an agreement for the purchase of Share Now, a joint car rental company of German giants BMW and Mercedes.
“We want to set up shop in big cities, and Share Now is a key step to accelerate our model,” Brigitte Courtehoux, managing director of Free2Move, a subsidiary of Stellantis (Fiat, Chrysler, Peugeot, and Citroën) that will absorb the competitor.
Share Now will be acquired by Free2move, the car rental subsidiary of Stellantis, the group said in a statement.
The agreement will allow it to provide service in “14 major European cities” and quintuple its fleet, according to the statement, building on the recent acquisition of Opel Rent in Germany and Austria.
Free2move will also “add more than 3.4 million customers to its two million users,” the group said.
