The General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic reported today that President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) issued a decree that regulates the Pro-Amazônia Legal. The government projects that 3 million inhabitants in the states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia and Roraima will benefit. “The Program will receive resources from January 2023, through annual contributions in the amount of R$ 295 million, to be updated by the IPCA (National Index of Prices to the Broad Consumer), for a period of ten years”, said the ministry. .
The announcement came after a meeting with the governor of Roraima, Antonio Denarium (non-party), who informed about the signing of a decree by the Pro-Amazônia Legal, which authorizes funds to compensate for the environmental damage caused by the Tucuruí Linhão project, which crosses the Waimiri-Atroari indigenous communities.
According to the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), projects to reduce energy generation costs will be selected by the Program Management Committee and may have as their object the integration of Isolated Systems and Remote Regions to the National Integrated System, the replacement the generation of electric energy distribution agents through the acquisition of energy and electric power from a selling agent and the implementation of supply solutions that include renewable sources or from renewable fuel, among other measures.
According to the ministry, the project will include the implementation of measures that improve the navigability of the Madeira River and the Tocantins River, considering the benefits and economic-financial impacts to their users; the selection and implementation of projects to structurally reduce electricity generation costs; and the allocation of resources for the continuity of the infrastructure works related to the Tucuruí Line, corresponding to the interconnection of the electrical network from Manaus to Boa Vista.
