BRASILIA (Reuters) – Economy Minister Paulo Guedes said on Tuesday that Brazil meets the two main vectors that, according to him, will define the future at a time of reconfiguration of global production chains as a result of the war in Ukraine. .
At the inauguration ceremony of the new board of Anfavea, an association of automakers, Guedes said that, on the one hand, the country is geographically close to North America and Europe, which would qualify it to meet the demands of the main global markets. On the other hand, Brazil is also considered a reliable partner from a geopolitical point of view, said the minister.
“We are facing a moment of geopolitical war that is actually re-qualifying Brazil as a close partner from the logistical point of view, and as a reliable partner from the point of view of a liberal, stable, secure democracy and a free market economy. that wants to integrate into the global economy,” he said.
He pointed out that, for Brazil, “the time for reindustrialization is now”, when the government has promoted tax reductions, in the wake of increased collections, and acted to ensure the country’s adhesion to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ( OECD) and for advancing the Mercosur agreement with the European Union.
