The Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, played down the request for information made by the TCU (Union Court of Auditors) to Eletrobras and stated that he still believes that the trial on the privatization of the state-owned company will take place on the scheduled date.
“Our expectation is that the 2nd TCU ruling comes out on May 18. All the requested information is being provided”, said Bento to the column. “I don’t believe in delay”, he reinforced.
As revealed by Valor Econômico newspaper, TCU minister Vital do Rêgo sent a letter asking the company for more information last Monday (02). There is a period of up to five days for the state-owned company to respond and, according to the column, the government’s guidance is that the answers are passed as soon as possible.
Vital do Rêgo had already interrupted the Eletrobras privatization trial on the 20th, with a request to view the process.
At the time, Vital do Rêgo said that there are a series of inconsistencies and errors in the studies prepared that serve as a basis for the privatization of Eletrobras.
