With no automotive experience in light vehicles, the Sany Group filed a patent application for an electric pick-up. For this Chinese manufacturer, it will be the entry into a new business area, as it is currently dedicated to the production of cranes and excavators.
Specialized in the production of cranes, trucks and excavators, the Sany Group, which has no previous experience in light vehicles, decided to launch itself in electric vehicles with a pick-up.
Images revealed by Car News China show a pickup truck and also that its patents were registered by a company called Hunan Xingbida Network Technology, which is owned by Sany Group.
The electric pick-up undeniably looks imposing. The front section features an illuminated Sany logo, as well as two vertically oriented LED daytime running lights. The vehicle has additional LED lights in a horizontal position next to the base of the front bumper and there also appears to be a small light above the windshield.
CATL batteries
The side view suggests that Sany’s pick-up has a robust look, thanks to side running boards, unpainted front and rear panels and dark rims mounted on off-road tyres.
Located at the rear of the pick-up is an LED light bar above the window, another LED light bar on the front side and LED taillights. The vehicle also has additional lights above the bumper.

Car News China said that Sany is working with battery manufacturer CATL on other projects, so it is possible that the pick-up has batteries from that company.
Despite being little known in the West, Sany Heavy Industries has the capital to make the electric pick-up project a reality. The company was founded in 1994 and is headquartered in Beijing. In May 2021 it had 24 thousand employees and a value of 39.09 billion euros.
