Aston Martin’s development package for the AMR22 transformed the visual appearance of the single-seater – in addition to opening a “war” with Red Bull – but there was no improvement on track during the Spanish GP.
For Sebastian Vettel, although the previous race was not good, the team learned a lot about the “new” car.
“We haven’t seen a big jump in performance yet, but we’ve learned a lot. We expected more in qualifying, the race was good”, said the German driver at the press conference ahead of the Monaco GP.
More would not be expected in the very first race with the big update package, added Vettel. “The most important thing was understanding where the car was with the update,” said Vettel. “We think the car has a lot more potential in this direction, otherwise we wouldn’t have modified it.”
