This time with his wife Paula Madeira as navigator, Rui Madeira toasted the tens of thousands of spectators of the 2022 edition of this Rally Legends with a great show at the controls of his mythical Mitsubishi Lancer Evo III, which will once again leave the garage for the Madeira Rally Legends, which takes place from the 27th to the 29th of October.
There were three days of unique spectacle that rally fans experienced with the 2022 edition of RallySpirit Altice. Once again, the event brought to the North of Portugal a set of machines that made you dream, taking us back to the golden decades of the last century, with special emphasis on the 80s and 90s.
Are these Legends events gaining more and more fans, especially in Portugal?
“I couldn’t miss an event that I consider one of the best among the Legends rallies organized in Europe. And this edition once again proved that it is so. It was three spectacular days, with thousands and thousands of spectators on the specials and everywhere we stopped. A real rally party!”.
How did the test go for you?
“I was always among the fastest in the Spirit Category. If it weren’t for the problems that affected us in the 2nd PEC and the podium would have been possible. But the result was what mattered least. I opted for a driving style that was much more exuberant than effective, because that was what the ever-enthusiastic audience wanted and deserved!”
This time you had Paula (Madeira, wife) by your side…
“I feel very proud, as always. Paula was up to the task, I give her a 20. We really enjoy racing together and it will happen again in the future!”.
