The expansion of Auxílio Gás and the new voucher for truck drivers will be used as “painkillers” by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) before the October elections, said the columnist for UOL Alberto Bombig. Members of the Planalto Palace confirmed the benefits to the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper.
“It’s that very common cartoon image: holes appear in the hull of the boat and you cover it with what you have, put your foot, your hand, put a cork. The government seems at that moment to try a containment policy”, evaluated Bombig, during participation in the UOL News.
The journalist mentioned that the risk of a stoppage of truck drivers may have motivated Bolsonaro to agree on the new aid. Although the Chief Executive himself seems to encourage this mobilization of the road sector, at bottom, Bombig said that the government fears that this will actually happen.
“A strike by truck drivers could generate economic and supply chaos that obviously will not favor the president in this election,” said the columnist.
“Reality is knocking on the door of the Bolsonaro government. That fantasy world where the problems are just the polls, the culture war, the vaccine that turns into an alligator, this is no longer working. continued.
“Bolsonaro has three and a half months ahead of him that, either he will at least try to give a pain reliever for these problems, like these aids and benefits, or govern efficiently – something that we have not seen so far.”
