This year’s edition of the Deutschlandstipendium (German Scholarship) program is open for applications. The scholarships provide monthly grants and academic mentoring for undergraduate and masters students who wish to study in the country.
Germany is one of the most accessible countries for those who want to study outside Brazil as it has a high number of public universities with total exemption from tuition fees, as in Brazil. However, in these institutions, students must pay a semester administration fee, which usually does not exceed 250 euros (R$ 1,386).
To help fellows, the program offers monthly grants of 300 euros (R$1,663), which cover all the costs of administrative fees and also help with day-to-day expenses. The amount is funded by the German government in partnership with private institutions. In addition to financial support, Deutschlandstipendium includes a mentoring program and networking events with universities.
How the program works
According to the Deutschlandstipendium website, the program “supports highly talented students” and the scholarship selection criteria consider academic background, social commitment and personal achievements “such as overcoming the student’s challenges or obstacles in their social or family background”. .
To apply for the scholarships, it is necessary to complete the selection process of the German educational institution in which you wish to study. The grants last for one year and can be renewed for the entire duration of the chosen course. In this link is the list of all universities participating in the program.
More information about the scholarships here. Deadlines for registration vary, interested parties must apply by the deadline of the chosen program.
