Pedro Guimarães, former president of Caixa, told executives at the state-owned company that anyone who supports ex-president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) “has to be fucked*”. The audio was obtained by columnist Rodrigo Rangel, from the website Metrópoles.
Apparently annoyed, Guimarães says that Caixa will “be raped again by those thieves, and fuck you” in reference to an eventual Lula government. Appointed to the post by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in 2019, Pedro Guimarães resigned yesterday, after allegations of sexual harassment by female employees against him were reported by the press.
Yesterday, in an interview with Educadora de Piracicaba radio, Lula said he was neither a prosecutor nor a police officer to comment on the case of the former president of Caixa.
According to Metrópoles, the speech against Lula took place during a meeting at the end of 2021 after Guimarães insinuated that some executives were working against him and the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government.
Also according to the website, Pedro Guimarães was nervous because the board approved an internal change that limited Guimarães’ appointment to boards of Caixa itself and of companies in which the bank has a stake.
In practice, the measure limited Guimarães’ remuneration to two boards, in addition to the monthly salary of R$56,000 he received as president of Caixa. A survey by Metrópoles identified that Guimarães was a member of 18 councils, which guaranteed him a remuneration of R$130,000.
Pedro Guimarães attributed the new rule to an alleged sabotage by his employees.
Other audios obtained by Rangel show Guimarães threatening employees with dismissal and a routine of moral harassment. In one of the reports, it is said that Guimarães puts pepper in the servers’ food.
Guimarães made official yesterday, in a letter, his resignation from the position. In the text, delivered to Bolsonaro and published on his social media, the economist declared that he fought harassment within the bank, denied the accusations and said he was placed in a “cruel, unfair, unequal situation and that will be corrected at the right time with force.” of truth”.
