Home > Rally > WRC > WRC, Rally Finland: hard life for Craig Breen By José Luis Abreu on 6 August 2022 14:49
Things have been much better between Craig Breen and M-Sport. After another error by the driver, who was fifth already in PE11, when he damaged the suspension of his Ford Puma Rally1, after hitting a rock, dropping a lot in the standings. Very unusually, his Crew Chief Richard Millener has publicly condemned Breen’s mistake, saying that “it’s a mistake that shouldn’t happen”, he said, speaking to Dirtfish. After the Estonian Rally, in which he went off-road and hit a cement post ‘hidden’ in the vegetation, this time he hit a rock embedded in the vegetation, after landing from a jump. With that, he ripped off the right rear wheel of his Puma Rally1, giving up. After the retirement in Estonia, crashing when he was in fifth place, 35.6 seconds ahead was what he least needed: “it’s a mistake that shouldn’t happen because it’s easy to see that going wide there we’re going to crash. I understand he’s trying to win seats, but giving up by accident is 10 times worse than anything else. It’s frustrating”. Life is very difficult for Breen at M-Sport, the fact that Millener goes public with this type of declaration is not a good sign for the Irishman.
It’s obvious that he’s been given a huge opportunity, he’s been given great trust, but Breen isn’t doing what he should. And we don’t even talk about victories…
