The president of the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban), Isaac Sidney, gave a message about the elections at the opening of the entity’s technology congress and highlighted the advances of Pix, which has already reached a volume of R$ 7.5 trillion. “We understand that the electoral process is a unique opportunity that democracy offers to discuss the country’s future”, said Sidney at Febraban Tech
“In the end, what should prevail, from the results of the elections, are the concrete actions in facing our problems”, stated Sidney. “The election for deputies and senators will also be important, so that we can advance in the reforms that Brazil so badly needs,” he said at the end of his speech.
The president of Febraban said that banks have invested in technology, and this movement is gaining even more strength, providing more security for transactions. “A technological revolution is happening behind the scenes in the banking industry.” Sidney cited the increasingly frequent use of algorithms by banks, artificial intelligence and blockchain.
Part of the speech Sidney used to talk about recent advances in banks, including Pix. There were 14 billion transactions, with R$ 7.5 trillion in financial volume. “More than 118 million individuals and companies that have already used Pix and 469 million registered keys”, he said.
The percentage of adults with access to financial services reached 96% in 2020, said Isaac Sidney.
Banks disbursed a record amount of funds for loans in the pandemic, releasing R$ 9.5 trillion, highlighted the executive. For 2022, Febraban’s forecast is that credit will grow 10.4%. “During the pandemic we also democratized credit, as never before,” he said.
