A worthy replacement for Polo for Russia: Volkswagen presented the budget Lavida XR

Let’s start with the fact that the Lavida XR cannot be called a completely new model, because it has been present in the global Volkswagen line since 2017. So the premiere of this car is such only in China.
In fact, the Lavida XR is the cousin of our Polo. Cars play in the same class, but they are still structurally different. However, what’s the difference. The main thing is that the novelty may well take a vacant place and make up for the acute shortage of compact four-doors that has formed in the domestic market as a result of the imposition of sanctions.
The Lavida XR is driven by a combination of a 110-horsepower 1.5-liter aspirated engine and a six-speed Aisin automatic transmission. The equipment includes six airbags, cruise control, a rear-view camera, a light sensor, a digital instrument panel, a sunroof, a push-button engine start system and many other “comfortable” options.
Prices are not yet known, but it is safe to assume that the price starts at about 100,000 yuan – that is, about 1,150,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. If Russian dealers are interested in this model, then it can cost us 1.8-1.9 million. After all, a slightly larger third-generation Lavida sedan – yes, yes, it is already being transported through parallel imports – is offered from 2.1 million.
It only remains to add that sales of the Volkswagen Lavida XR will begin in China in June.
