Motor1 notes that the A290_β index is compiled according to the classic Alpine scheme: it starts with the letter A, followed by three digits, where 90 means “everyday car” (sports cars are marked with the number 100), and “beta” indicates that this a prototype, not a production-ready car. Following this logic, the Greek letter will be omitted from the name of the production car.
