An updated date for the launch of production of the new LADA X-Cross 5 crossover has been announced

– The AVTOVAZ concern will produce the first serial LADA car at the site of the former Nissan plant in mid-June. By the end of the year, 10,000 vehicles will roll off the assembly line. In the next 2 years, the output will increase to 30,000 a year, and we will no longer depend on anyone, we will produce cars ourselves, – said the governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, speaking with an annual report to the deputies of the city parliament.

Recall that a couple of weeks ago, during the LADA dealer conference, AVTOVAZ “lit up” its new model, the X-Cross 5. It turned out to be a FAW Bestune T77, a front-wheel drive “city crossover,” as the Chinese manufacturer classifies it.

Specifications of LADA X-Cross 5 have not yet been officially announced. The “original” FAW Bestune T77 in the configuration for the Russian market has a 160-horsepower 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine, aggregated with either a 6-speed “mechanics” or a 7-band “robot”. At the moment, Russian FAW dealers offer it at a price of 2.17 million rubles for the basic version and from 2.4 million rubles for the top version.

Recall that AVTOVAZ closed the deal to acquire Nissan’s Russian assets, including the St. Petersburg plant, in early February this year. According to its terms, the Japanese received an option to buy back local businesses over the next 6 years.
