Belarusians to buy Geely Coolray platform for “national” car

BelGee is going to produce the national electric car of Belarus at its facilities. However, another plant, the Unison car assembly plant, which is located in the village of Obchak, 10 kilometers from Minsk, can also buy out a license for the platform. Previously, he produced models of Opel, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Peugeot and other brands, but has been idle for three years now. Perhaps, as a result, the plant will go to the state, which is interested in the production of its own “electric train”.
Belarus has been working on an electric car since 2016, and the first prototype with a power reserve of 100-150 kilometers was shown in 2017. This year, the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) plans to develop a drive based on an 80-kilowatt electric motor from the Polesyeelectromash plant. Traction battery cells will be purchased from China.
