MADE IN CHINA – After the Born, the Spanish brand presents the Cupra Tavascan, the second electric model as well as the first battery-powered SUV. The Tavascan is distinguished by an aggressive and very personal style, designed to make inroads among young people. It will arrive in first quarter of 2024 and will be built in the Chinese plant in Anhui (the German company has a joint venture with the Chinese JAC Motors), “equipped” to produce cars based on MEB. The Tavascan is in fact engineered on the same platform, specific for electric cars, as the “cousins” Volkswagen ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq Coupé.
SLIM AND RUGGED – Anticipated by the 2019 concept, the Cupra Tavascan And hole 464 cm, 186 wide and 159 high; the wheelbase (the distance between the centers of the wheels measured along the side) is 276 cm. The bodywork is that of a streamlined SUV coupé with a pointed front distinguished by the headlights with three triangular luminous elements, the muscular bonnet with the evident central rib and the large air intakes positioned in the bumper which give the car sportiness. Seen from the side, two evident ribs can be seen, one at the level of the door handles, the other at the bottom. The rear window is very inclined, which defines a sports rear where the light unit that extends to the full width is clearly visible, with the illuminated Cupra logo. The aerodynamic black and copper colored alloy wheels are particularly striking.

DESIGNER INTERIORS – The interior of the Cupra Tavascan they differ from those of the other VW Group cars with which they share the mechanics for various elements such as the copper-colored horizontal band that “embraces” the entire dashboard. The steering wheel, cut low like the one found on thoroughbred sports cars, has various controls, in addition to the paddles for regulating energy recovery. The 15″ screen of the multimedia system is positioned in the center of the dashboard, flanked by the compact 5.3″ panel responsible for controlling the instrumentation. The seats have a sporty setting, and the Spanish company has also set up a refined audio system, developed in collaboration with Sennheiser, which includes a total of 12 speakers.
THE ADAS – Like the other models engineered on the MEB platform, the Cupra Tavascan it is equipped with a whole series of driving aid devices which make it compliant with level 2 of autonomy.
