Every third driver believes that he was fined unfairly

Not all drivers know the traffic rules well, especially many are confused by the principle of traffic at a roundabout.
Knowing the rules is most difficult for millennials (born between 1984 and 2000) and zoomers (from 1996 to 2010), showed a survey conducted by the Renaissance Insurance Group and Autocode.
On March 1, 2023, several changes to the Rules of the Road came into force. As part of the study, the vast majority of respondents (91%) could not answer correctly all questions on traffic rules.
The most difficult to remember was the principle of traffic at the roundabout and the designation of the main road – 58% answered incorrectly. Most often, such a mistake was made by people aged 23 to 41 years (66% of incorrect answers).
The second most difficult question was the question of knowledge about the prohibition of stopping at the safety island – 52% of respondents gave incorrect answers, and in most cases they turned out to be buzzers (64%).
Electronic documents that can be presented to the traffic police inspector baffled 44% of drivers and, more often than others, people aged 61+ years or boomers (people born between 1945 and 1961) made a mistake in this matter – 46%.
In the first quarter of 2023 alone, 52% of Russian motorists have already received a fine. Every third driver (30%) is sure that he was fined unfairly, 17% blame the failure of the traffic camera, 6% shift the blame to pedestrians, and 3% to other drivers.
