Maserati: goodbye to the V8 at the end of 2023

GOODBYE AT THE END OF 2023 – Times of goodbyes in the house Maserati. The Trident took advantage of the setting of the fifth edition of the Motor Valley Fest, the open-air event (in Modena from Thursday 11 to Sunday 14 May), to announce thegoodbye of the V8 580hp 90° Twin Turbo. The exit from the stage of the famous engine that equips the Levante, Ghibli and Quattroporte in the Trofeo version will take place at the end of 2023, the year in which production will officially cease (sales will continue until 2024). The latest editions of the Maserati Trofeo, Ghibli 334 Ultima and Levante V8 Ultima, will be unveiled at the international Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2023.
ELECTRIFICATION ADVANCES – Farewell to the V8 is a choice in line with Maserati’s plans, which by 2025 will have an electric version for each model in the range, with the aim of becoming fully electric in 2030. Currently, the range of the Trident company can already count on the GranTurismo Folgore, the first electric car in the history of the brand, and on the Grecale Folgore, the battery-powered version of the SUV.
A LONG STORY – Il V8 forms a very important part in the history of the house, since 1959, the year in which the Maserati 5000GT was born, the first car to mount an engine with this fractionation. Overall, over 100,000 Maseratis with 8-cylinder engines were produced and sold worldwide.
IN MODENA SQUARE – During the four days of the Motor Valley Fest the city of Modena will be “embraced” by the cars of the Trident, on display in the symbolic places of the city. In Piazza Grande, the Folgore electric range will be on display for the first time: GranTurismo Folgore One Off Luce and Grecale Folgore will be joined by the GEN3 Maserati Tipo Folgore, the single-seater that is competing in the Formula E World Championship this year. Trofeo range, with editions of the Levante, Ghibli and Quattroporte Zeda (in the pictures), one-of-a-kind examples to celebrate the V8 engine, will instead be exhibited in Piazza XX Settembre.
OPEN DOORS – The showroom in viale Ciro Menotti will host the GranTurismo, from its origins to the presentwith two classic models, together with the previous generation GranTurismo Zéda and the GranTurismo One Off Prisma.
