Milk permeate is a mixture of lactose (milk sugar), vitamins and minerals. It can be used to make low-alcohol drinks like Vodkow, and it can also be distilled into a stronger low-carbon ethyl alcohol. Looking for new ways to use permeate, American and Canadian experts decided to try using it as a base for biofuels.
