Nissan’s losses due to the exit from Russia were 20 percent more than expected

Despite a reported loss of $893 million, Nissan’s fiscal 2022 proved to be a strong one, with revenue up a quarter from 2021 to 10.6 trillion yen ($78.8 billion) and net income up 3 percent to 221.9 billion yen ($1.65 billion).
In terms of global sales, for the fiscal year that began April 1, 2022 and ended March 31, 2023, Nissan sold 3.305 million vehicles worldwide, a 14.7 percent drop from 2021. Sales volumes were affected not only by the departure of the brand from the Russian market, but also by the outbreak of coronavirus in China, interruptions in the supply of components and a shortage of electronic components.
