The problem with Takata pillows is in squibs. Devices designed to inflate the airbag in a fraction of a second explode here more than necessary: as a result, pieces of the body “shoot” into the passenger compartment, injuring the driver and passengers.
The reviews, which have been running for more than 10 years, affect more than 50 million car brands from different countries and segments – from Audi to Ford. In the US alone, there have been 29 deaths and more than 400 cases of injuries related to explosive pillows to date.
