Peugeot 2008, new look and more km for the electric

THE BESTSELLER DOES THE MAKEUP – Since it appeared on the market at the end of 2019, the Peugeot 2008 second generation has remained steadily at the top of the ranking of the most successful small-medium crossovers in Europe, with almost 700,000 specimens sold. Now, almost four years after its launch, the French crossover it renews itself inside and out, sporting a more athletic and gritty look that reflects the latest design language of the house.

ALSO HYBRID IN 2024 – Starting next year the Peugeot 2008 will also be offered with a new hybrid engine with 48V technology. In combination with a 136 HP turbo petrol there will be a current unit, integrated in the six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The house has not yet communicated the overall power, but promises a 15% reduction in consumption, with the possibility of traveling on electric 50% of the time in the city.

LOOK… SCRATCHING – With the mid-career revamp, the look of the Peugeot 2008 it changes especially in the part frontwhich was redesigned, giving the car a livelier and more sophisticated look, thanks also to the three luminous “scratches” integrated in the glossy black inserts at the ends of the front bumper, which is more angular. That motif is also found, on the richer and sportier GT trim level, also in the luminous body of the full LED headlights and, on all versions, also in the rear lights, fully LED even on the “base” models. The coat of arms also changes grille with a new shape: instead of the classic lion there is now the new logo of the Sochaux brand, in the shape of a shield. Inspired by those of the new 408, the alloy wheels are also redesigned, with sizes of 16, 17 or 18 inches depending on the configuration.

INSIDE IT’S MORE DIGITAL (AND ALSO A LITTLE MORE CHIC) – Even more cared for interior trim, with the seats of the most luxurious GT versions covered in Alcantara and ambient lights available in eight different colors that vary according to the driving mode selected. Speaking of driving modes, the new Grip Control function provides three specific ones to facilitate driving on the most difficult surfaces, with different set-up calibrations for sand, mud and snow. Details aside, however, within the Peugeot 2008 maintains the setting of the model on the market today, with the by now typical small multifunction steering wheel, the raised instrument panel (fully digital on the most prestigious Allure and GT trim levels) and the new high-definition central display, now 10 inches on all models and from which all the car’s on-board services are managed, together with the physical keyboard located under the “climate” vents.

IT HELPS YOU A LOT IN DRIVING – Complete, finally, the equipment of systems driving aids: in addition to the optional rear and front cameras, which make maneuvering at low speed and parking easier, the Peugeot 2008 also has adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, recognition of the main traffic signs, lane departure warning and lane keeping system, blind spot monitoring and driver fatigue detector.
