The Joe Biden administration is being asked to soften recently announced environmental standards. According to them, by 2030, 60 percent of all new cars sold in the US must be fully electric. In 2021, it was only about 50 percent by the same date.
Tighter regulations will have a significant impact on companies, their employees and consumers, ultimately making the car less accessible to the average American. The reason is the complexity and high cost of a sharp restructuring of the industry, as well as a limited supply chain for batteries and other components for electric cars.
