THE IMPORTANCE OF CHINA – The Maserati is the protagonist Auto Shanghai 2023 with its range of electric models: Grecale and GranTurismo Folgore. The progressive electrification of the range and the penetration of the important Chinese market represent fundamental steps for the implementation of the Italian company’s strategy, which envisages the marketing of electric versions of all models by 2025 and the exclusive production of fully electric vehicles by the 2030.
GRECALE FOLGORE – The Maserati Grecale Folgore (in the photo above) differs from the one with internal combustion engine for a few aesthetic details such as the Folgore lettering, the more closed grille and a specific bumper, in addition to the rims optimized from an aerodynamic point of view. The platform of the thermal version has been extensively modified to accommodate the powertrain, which in the Grecale Folgore has two electric motors for a total 500 CV with a pair of 800 Nm which ensure four-wheel drive, powered by a 105 kWh battery with 800 volt architecture positioned under the floor.
FOLGORE GRAND TOURISM – The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore (in the photo above) provides three electric motors (one in front, the others at the rear), whose combined action is managed through sophisticated silicon carbide inverters derived from the most modern Formula E technologies. The overall power is 762 CV. The three electric motors of the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore are powered by a 92.5 kWh battery (it accepts up to 270 kW and the declared range in the WLTP cycle is 450 km). The stack modules are arranged in a characteristic T shape and are located very close to the ground, with the weight distributed evenly especially in the central tunnel area and not, as is usually the case on electric cars, under the front seats.
