VW Polo: a special edition for 25 years

QUARTER OF CENTURY – In 1998, exactly 25 years ago, Volkswagen added the GTI version to the range for the first time Volkswagen Polo. To celebrate this anniversary, the German brand is launching a special edition, the Polo GTI Edition 25based on the current 207 HP Polo GTI. The special edition will be limited to 2,500 specimens and will be available for order in Germany from 1 June at a price of 35,205 euros. Prices and availability in Italy are not yet known.
EXCLUSIVE EQUIPMENT – If the 4 cylinder 2.0 TSI da 207 CV e 320 Nm remains unchanged, the equipment of the is enriched instead Volkswagen Polo GTI Edition 25, which benefits from a series of exclusive features such as the 18-inch Adelaide alloy wheels and the black roof and rear-view mirrors, in contrast with the three available colors (Pure White, Kings Red Metallic and Reef Blue Metallic). Also standard are the IQ.Light LED matrix headlights with dynamic lights. Inside the cabin we find sports seats in black and red perforated leather finished with stitched GTI logos and gloss black finishes with red GTI lettering. There is also the multifunction sports steering wheel in leather with the “25” logo equipped with paddles to control the automatic DSG gearbox. On the sill panel trim, the “One of 2500” logo will remind you of the exclusivity of the model.
A BIT OF HISTORY – Although the Volkswagen Polo was launched in 1979, the popular model had to wait almost twenty years and three generations before seeing its premiere GTI sports version: 3,000 units were sold, sold out in a short time after the announcement. A new Polo GTI had to wait until 2006: enthusiasts especially appreciated the 180 HP Cup Edition, visually based on the racing cars of the Polo Cup. The fifth generation of 2010, with the 1.4 TSI with turbo and supercharging, was loved by enthusiasts, as well as the following (following the restyling) which offered 192 HP and a top speed of 236 km/h. Now comes this Volkswagen Polo GTI Edition 25which could also represent the swan song of the Polo GTI, at least in its thermal version.
